Connecting Faith-Centered Families in Our Community

Hi, I'm Iman Diaz, and Whittier Shout Outs exists for one simple reason: busy families like yours deserve to stay connected to what matters most in your backyard without the overwhelm.

Why I Started This As a lifelong Whittier resident and man of faith raising my own family here, I know how hard it is to balance work, family, and staying involved in our community. You want your kids to grow up with strong values in a place where neighbors still know each other – but between daily responsibilities and intentional family time, who has time to track down what's really happening locally?

Our Family Journey My wife and I are both Whittier natives committed to raising our two sons (ages 10 and 8) with the same community values and faith that shaped us. We've chosen to homeschool, believing that education should align with our values while meeting each child's unique needs – our eldest son has autism, and both boys have navigated Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapy at various phases of their lives. They both have IEPs, and we know firsthand how challenging it can be to advocate for your children while finding the right support and resources.

You'll often find our family at the library (our boys are voracious readers!), playing chess or Otrio together, or exploring local parks and trails. We're passionate about sharing what we've learned with other families facing similar challenges – because every parent deserves support in helping their children thrive.

Our Shared Values I believe in supporting local businesses that give Whittier its character, celebrating families who are working to raise healthy kids with strong biblical values, and connecting neighbors who want to be part of something bigger than themselves. Having earned my degrees in Network Security and Data Analytics while working in K-12 education, I understand both the technical side of staying informed and the real-world challenges of navigating educational systems for children with unique needs.

 

Building Community Together I'm especially passionate about sharing resources and our health journey with families navigating speech therapy, OT, PT, IEPs, and the special needs world – because we've been there, we're still there, and we know how isolating it can feel. Every parent in Whittier deserves support to help their children thrive according to God's design for their lives.
